I know, I know, I’m a couple of days late on the Cliff’s Notes post this week. To be honest, time got away from me and I didn’t realize I hadn’t actually done it and what day it was supposed to be done. But have no fear, we’re here now!
Work Related Stuff
As most of you know, there was a huge CloudFlare outage yesterday that caused disruption to the internet around the world. Unfortunately, the company I work for, Skylight Calendar, relies mostly on CloudFlare for most everything we do, so needless to say, we were heavily affected.
It all started around 6am EST, or close to it, when people couldn’t access various things around the internet. It quickly hit us at Skylight and we instantly started getting tons of live chats and tons of emails to the inbox.
I saw the conversations as they started in Slack, and asked my supervisor if she wanted me to jump on early and help out where I could. She instantly said yes, and that was about 3 hours prior to my scheduled start time.
Chats and emails were indeed crazy, as I think at one point we had well over 300 live chats waiting to be answered and emails were steadily pouring in as well. By the time some of the part-time folks showed up to help, the outage was so bad that they couldn’t even get into Zendesk to start responding to emails and tickets. So yeah, things just kept backing up.
This lasted for about 4 hours or so, but of course we had to play catch-up for most of the day due to the amount of reports we had to deal with. I left work at 6:30pm, about 12 hours after this outage originally started, and we were still playing catch-up, but were almost there.
General Life Stuff
Monday, the wife and I had our weekly date time, and we decided to try a new place for lunch. Twisted Pines restaurant in downtown Winston Salem, NC. This is a place we had been wanting to try for a while as we’re always hearing good things about it.
For an appetizer, we started with the Queso and Chorizo dip and chips. It was white cheddar cheese with Chorizo mixed in as well as slices of jalapeños.
I went with The Young Cardinal burger, which had bacon, hashbrowns, fried eggs, American cheese and Duke’s mayo on it. I also had them add their unique white cheddar jalapeño pimento cheese spread, which was an absolutely awesome idea.
The burger was absolutely delicious and so messy, which to me is almost always a good thing. A burger with a fried egg on top is always the way to go!
My wife got the Birria tacos which came with shredded beef, onions, cilantro, melted cheese and consomme. Hers was really good too and definitely something I too would order at some point.

Video Games
I’ve been playing Escape from Duckov non-stop since I first started playing it a couple of weeks ago. This morning, the game to an end as I managed to finish it. What an amazingly fun game that I’m so glad that I discovered. A game I recommend everyone to check out if you like solo extraction shooter games, which I don’t think there’s too many of to be honest.
This morning, I started Arc Raiders. Not sure how that will go, but I’ll update everyone on that next week.
Final Thoughts
That was pretty much it for the week. Work stuff keeping me busy and of course date time with the wife which is always a huge plus.
I still haven’t managed to get any other blog posts published to the site, but hopefully that will come very soon. I have started trying to post on Crucial Tracks again, which you can view my profile here: Cliff’s Crucial Tracks. And of course there’s always the place I post my photos which you can view here: Cliff’s Vernissage.
Don’t forget, I still have the old AllThingsTech(ATT) Discord server up and running and if you like the things I post and would like join there, feel free to do so via this link: AllThingsTech Discord. I’d absolutely love to have you join us there as we do have a small little community of folks there that talk from time to time. We even have cookies!
